(1948 - ) Mr. Salem started a professional painting career traveling the arts festival circuit in the Eastern United States and painted in New York City for two years. He later moved to the countryside of Pennsylvania in 1974 and began a serious painting career inspired by the landscape and nature of central Pennsylvania. His acrylic paintings capture his life-long passion for the world of nature matched by an almost compulsive intensity for detail and color within the framework of lush flora and fauna. His wildlife is painstakingly accurate, although the resulting work is as much the product of his feelings as precise representation. Jim Salem states "That as an artist with an inherent love for the land upon which I exist, the realm of nature provides a constant source of inspiration. I paint to express the emotions evoked within me in an attempt to record the relationships of man to earth, sky to land, plant to bird. Revealing the innermost me, I hope to share the beauty I see, the serenity I experience, and my own insignificance in a world so vast and understood only by it's Creator." Mr. Salem completed a very successful two year museum show in 1997 that was titled: "Pennsylvania: The Unspoiled Landscape," that premiered at the Indiana University Museum in Indiana, Pennsylvania and toured for two years at other museums and galleries in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth. He continues to paint professionally and has exhibited in festivals, juried shows, museums and galleries throughout the Eastern United States. His work has been published in American Artist and Florida Home and Garden magazines and can be found in many private and corporate collections. GROUP-INVITATIONAL EXHIBITIONS:
